What we love about this stay
Request a suite facing west — the desert light at golden hour floods the room in a way that feels almost ceremonial, and it turns your evening wind-down into something you'll genuinely remember. Book any wellness treatment for late morning rather than first thing; your body adjusts to the altitude and dry air overnight, and you'll get far more out of it once you've settled. Don't skip the quiet hours just before sunrise — step outside barefoot if you can. The desert floor is cool, the silence is total, and it resets something in you that a spa menu never quite reaches. This is a place that rewards stillness over scheduling. Let it.

Having just returned from my first trip to Palm Springs and Palm Desert area in California, I am eager to go back. While it has a reputation as a more mature, golfing community...the area also offers plenty of dining, fantastic shopping and stunning scenery - snow capped mountains in the distance as you sunbathe poolside. You can even do an adventurous dune buggy ride through the sandy desert!! I personally found that February evenings were quire cool requiring jackets and long pants but the daytime is as hot as you need for tanning and water pursuits (mostly swimming pools as the desert is not close enough to any oceans). Well worth a visit and even more so if you love to golf...ladies, the shopping is more than you could ask for - everything from Sketchers all the way up to Gucci and an abundance of local boutiques in between. For Toronto natives, West Jet is now offering a selection of direct flights straight into Palm Springs!! What more could you ask for??

Just back from winter in Palm Springs. 3 Glorious months. What charming town - excellent golf all around, very affordable, nice people. Love the desert. And close to LA when we needed a dose of city life.

You have to go to the street fair on thursday nights downtown Palm Springs. Music, food, wears, crafts (jewlery, pottery, candlesetc. Then there is a flea market. This is at the community college. All the stuff there is from vendors who have business. Not your typical flea market. Not Junk or used. Food, Crafts, Wears(clothes, jewlery, purses) Flags, outdoor crafts, paintings, art, and be prepared to walk lots to see.

I love that there is such a variety of shop so close together, mixed with a wonderful selection of restaurants.

I love Palm Springs! It's that simple. I have been a yearly visitor to PS for almost 18 years and I cannot find anyplace as relaxing and welcoming. I am basically a regular at this point in life. PS is a small town in size but has the offerings most want. About 2 hours east of Los Angeles this olden Oasis of the famous & rich still offers the trappings for the high income of society, but now is better known as a destination for gay people, who have breathed new life into a once dying town. A very gay friendly town, PS population is about 50% or more of gay residents making it one of the most gay towns in America. Many of the business are either owned by gay people or run by gay people, which explains the detail to attention by most. PS itself is the main attraction but most of the truly wealthy people now live in Palm Desert and Cathedral City. Thus Palm Springs is more affordable than the two previous mentioned towns. There are an abundant supply of gay accommodations to choose from including high end "posh" places to clothing option with "frisky" play areas. The traditional chain accommodations are also present but do not compare with the small local boutique style B&B & Inns. So definitely check out one of the non-traditional places to stay. Shopping is a great treat in PS as you will find a lot of local, non chain stores on N. Palm Canyon Drive, the "Main St" of Palm Springs. If your gay there are many local guides available, but make sure to stop at the PS Welcome center as you come off of I-10 as it is staffed with very knowledgeable gay people and is one of the only welcome centers I know of with an entire gay accommodation section. Nice job guys! Like most places, it is what you make of it. I choose to find a gay B&B where I can sit pool side and just relax in the sun. Even in February there are days in the 70's and I just love relaxing by a pool. But be forewarned the if you go from May till Sept the daytime temperatures can get as high as 120 degrees. I happen to love the heat without the draining humidity found on the east coast. Restaurants...well you name it and it's here. But again, don't go to the traditional name chains. Try some of the local places which are outstanding. I have gotten so that I know a few of the owners of the local restaurants from going to them year after year. If you have to have fast food... go to Del Taco on East Palm Canyon Drive (AKA RT# 111) in Cathedral City. Much better than Taco Bell. Night life...if your gay you will have way too many selections to choose from to fit them all in, even if you are in town for a week. Three of the most popular places are The Barracks on Sunday afternoons for beer bash, The Tool Shed on Friday and Saturday nights and Hunters for Happy Hour. The only negative thing about PS is the distance from the east coast in that is a full day to and from PS and the cost to fly into PS airport is very expensive. The people in the know better address cost to fly in and out of PS Airport as it is very, very expensive as compared to other resort destinations and a major distraction from visiting. Better to save a few dollars and fly into Ontario Airport about an hour west and rent a car. It's an easy drive and you will also get to view the Windmills upon entering PS off I-10
