Ace Hotels
There is a particular energy that greets you the moment you step through the lobby of Ace Hotel New York, a feeling less like arriving at a hotel and more like walking into the living room of a city that never sits still. Located in the NoMad neighborhood on Broadway and 29th Street, the property occupies a building that hums with the creative pulse of Manhattan. The lobby is a scene unto itself: long communal tables, vintage furniture, exposed brick, and a steady rotation of freelancers, travelers, and locals who treat the ground floor as an extension of their daily lives. It is one of the rare hotel lobbies in New York that functions as genuine public space, blurring the line between guest and neighborhood in a way that feels entirely intentional.
Rooms at Ace Hotel New York are designed with a loft-like sensibility, mixing industrial textures with warm, considered details. Exposed concrete, custom furnishings, Pendleton wool blankets, and turntables with curated vinyl selections give each space a personality that resists the anonymity of a typical Manhattan hotel room. Categories range from compact configurations suited to travelers who spend their days out in the city to more spacious options with room to spread out. Guitar rentals and Martin acoustic instruments available for in-room use speak to the property's deep roots in music and creative culture. The design is spare without feeling austere, grounded in authenticity rather than trend.
The hotel's food and beverage program is woven into the fabric of the building. The Lobby Bar anchors the ground-floor social scene with cocktails and a menu that keeps pace with the room's energy from morning through late night. Adjoining the hotel, The Breslin Bar and Dining Room brings a more defined dining experience rooted in hearty, British-inspired fare, with a dark, handsome interior that feels like a proper gastropub elevated to its sharpest form. Stumptown Coffee Roasters operates on site, fueling the lobby's creative current and offering one of the neighborhood's most reliable morning rituals. These outlets are not afterthoughts; they are central to the property's identity and to the rhythm of any stay.
NoMad itself has become one of Manhattan's most compelling neighborhoods, positioned between the Flatiron District and Midtown with easy access to Madison Square Park, the Empire State Building, and the density of culture, food, and commerce that defines this stretch of the city. The hotel sits at the intersection of old New York grit and contemporary creative energy, a location that rewards walking in every direction. Whether your agenda involves gallery openings, late-night music, or simply watching the city pass by from a lobby table with a coffee in hand, Ace Hotel New York gives you a base that feels less like accommodation and more like participation. You leave not rested in the traditional sense, but charged, connected, and a little more tuned in to the frequency of the city around you.

You feel the building before you notice the design — that rare hotel energy where no one's quite sure who's a guest and who just wandered in from Broadway with a laptop and an agenda. The Ace treats its industrial bones with real respect, leaving the brick and concrete honest while layering in vinyl collections, custom guitars, and art from independent makers that give each room a quality of accumulation rather than decoration. It functions less as a place to sleep in New York and more as a place to be porous to it, where cultural programming, lobby crowds, and the particular charge of this NoMad block move through the building without asking permission. It's a stay that rewards people who'd rather participate than retreat.

Pros: Great location. Rooms are decent. Great bar. Cons: The drain in the shower / tub needs drano; great pressure but terrible drainage. Also, the paint on the ceiling is peeling heavily.

Pros: I loved the location and aesthetics of the hotel, staff very friendly and helpful, from booking to checkout everything went very smoothly. I love how they store our luggage for us to explore the city, very clean, beds are comfortable, we didn’t hear any city noise from our room. The room and private bathroom were spacious. And most important of all, very reasonably priced for location and the Christmas season. I was so happy about this find. No complaints, would highly recommend! Cons: N/A
